Additional Info
body
Sanity (SAN) represents an investigator's grip on reality, starting near their POW characteristic. Encountering something that violates the natural order — a Mythos creature, forbidden knowledge, an impossible sight — calls for a Sanity roll (d100 under current SAN). Success means a smaller Sanity loss (or none); failure means a larger loss, expressed as a range like '1d6' or '1d10'. Sanity loss is cumulative and permanent barring in-game recovery (therapy, downtime, or narrative closure). Investigators do not get stronger by confronting horror — they get closer to breaking.
