Supernatural characters track a Humanity rating (or, for some, an alternate Path of Enlightenment reflecting a different worldview) representing how connected they remain to conventional morality. Committing acts that violate that rating's hierarchy of sins calls for a degeneration roll; failure lowers the rating, making the character colder, more monstrous, and more prone to Frenzy or worse — and at its lowest levels, effectively ending the character as anything resembling their former self.
