Discord sharing setup

The Discord sharing feature lets you post entity cards, NPC portraits, and scene images from the GM Screen directly to a Discord channel — useful for sharing what the party is seeing during a live session without screen sharing your entire screen.

Before you can use it, you need to create a webhook in your Discord server and paste the URL into Skryrún.

Step 1 — Create a webhook in Discord

  1. Open Discord and go to the server you use for your campaign.
  2. Right-click the channel you want to post to (e.g. #session-table or #gm-screen) and select Edit Channel.
  3. In the channel settings, click Integrations in the left sidebar.
  4. Click Webhooks, then New Webhook.
  5. Give the webhook a name — Skryrún works, or anything you'll recognize.
  6. Optionally upload an avatar image for the webhook.
  7. Click Copy Webhook URL and keep it somewhere handy.
  8. Click Save Changes.
📝Note

The webhook URL is a secret — it lets anyone who has it post to your channel. Keep it in Skryrún and don't share it publicly.

Step 2 — Add the webhook to your world in Skryrún

  1. Open your world in Skryrún and go to World Settings.
  2. Find the Discord Integration section.
  3. Paste the webhook URL you copied from Discord into the Webhook URL field.
  4. Click Save.

The webhook is stored per-world. If you run multiple campaigns in different servers, set a different webhook on each world.

Step 3 — Use it in the GM Screen

Once the webhook is saved, a Discord button appears in the GM Screen toolbar.

Click it to open the share panel. From there you can:

  • Share an entity card — posts the NPC or location name, description, and portrait (if one is set)
  • Share a scene image — posts an image you've set as scene background art
  • Write a custom message — add context, read-aloud text, or GM notes before posting

The post appears in your Discord channel immediately. Players in the session don't see it in Skryrún — you control when and what gets sent.

Troubleshooting

The Discord button doesn't appear in the GM Screen. Check that you've saved a webhook URL in World Settings. The button only appears when a webhook is configured.

Posts are going to the wrong channel. The webhook is tied to a specific channel when you create it in Discord. To change the channel, create a new webhook in the correct channel and update the URL in World Settings.

I got an error when trying to post. Discord webhooks expire if they're deleted in Discord. Go back to your server's channel integrations, verify the webhook still exists, and re-copy the URL if needed.

My webhook URL was accidentally shared publicly. Delete the webhook immediately in Discord (channel settings → Integrations → Webhooks → Delete). Then create a new webhook and update the URL in Skryrún.
