| Action | Cost | Trigger | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| Attack | Action | — | When you take the Attack action, you can make one attack roll with a weapon or an Unarmed Strike. Certain features, such as the Extra Attack feature of the Fighter, allow you to make more than one attack with this action. |
| Dash | Action | — | When you take the Dash action, you gain extra movement for the current turn equal to your Speed, after applying any modifiers. |
| Disengage | Action | — | When you take the Disengage action, your movement does not provoke Opportunity Attacks for the rest of the turn. |
| Dodge | Action | — | When you take the Dodge action, you focus entirely on avoiding attacks. Until the start of your next turn, any attack roll made against you has Disadvantage if you can see the attacker, and you make Dexterity saving throws with Advantage. You lose this benefit if you have the Incapacitated condition or your Speed drops to 0. |
| Help | Action | — | When you take the Help action, you do one of the following: (1) Distract a creature within 5 feet of an ally — the next attack roll your ally makes against that creature has Advantage. (2) Aid another creature's ability check — if that creature makes the specified check before the start of your next turn, it has Advantage on the roll. |
| Hide | Action | — | With the Hide action, you try to conceal yourself. You must succeed on a DC 15 Dexterity (Stealth) check while Heavily Obscured or behind Three-Quarters or Total Cover, and must be out of any enemy's line of sight. On a success, you have the Invisible condition until you move or take an action. |
| Influence | Action | — | With the Influence action, you attempt to influence a creature through talk. Make a Charisma check (Deception, Intimidation, Performance, or Persuasion) contested by the target's Wisdom (Insight). New in D&D 2024 — replaces separate social skill uses in combat. |
| Magic | Action (varies by spell) | — | When you take the Magic action, you cast a spell that has a casting time of an action or use a feature or magic item that requires the Magic action to activate. |
| Opportunity Attack | Reaction | A creature you can see leaves your reach | When a creature you can see leaves your reach, you can use your reaction to make one melee attack against it. The attack occurs right before the creature leaves your reach. |
| Ready | Action | — | When you take the Ready action, you prepare to do something when a trigger occurs. Decide what perceivable circumstance triggers your reaction, then choose the action you will take in response. When triggered, you can take your reaction right after or ignore it. You must Concentrate to maintain a readied spell. |
| Search | Action | — | When you take the Search action, you make a Wisdom (Perception) or Intelligence (Investigation) check (DM's choice) to find something or detect a hidden creature. |
| Study | Action | — | When you take the Study action, you make an Intelligence check to study your memory, a document, a creature, a location, an object, or another source of knowledge to recall an important piece of information. New in D&D 2024. |
| Unarmed Strike | Action (via Attack action) | — | Instead of using a weapon, you can use your body. On a hit, an Unarmed Strike deals Bludgeoning damage equal to 1 + your Strength modifier. As a Bonus Action after hitting, you can grapple, shove, or deal 1 + Strength modifier Bludgeoning damage to the same target. New in D&D 2024. |
| Utilize | Action | — | When you take the Utilize action, you use a nonmagical object — activating a trap, operating a siege weapon, picking a lock. New in D&D 2024 — replaces Use an Object. |
