Offline session packs

Game night happens in basements, garages, and pubs with hostile wi-fi. An offline session pack downloads everything a prepared session needs onto the device you'll run it from, so a dropped connection doesn't take your prep with it.

Downloading a pack

  1. Prepare the session and link a session plan to it — the plan is what defines the pack.
  2. Open the session and choose Offline Session Pack.
  3. Click Download for Offline Use.
  4. Wait for it to finish: Preparing → Downloading → Saving → Ready.
⚠️Warning

A session with no linked plan has nothing to pack. Link a session plan first, or there's nothing for the download to collect.

What's in a pack

ScenesThe session plan's scenes, with their beats and read-aloud text
EntitiesThe NPCs, locations, and factions those scenes reference
Stat blocksThe adversaries attached to the session
Skill checksPrepared checks in the plan
ClocksTension clocks in scope
MediaScene art, portraits, and map images, stored on the device

The dialog reports how many media files were cached and how much space the pack takes. A pack that couldn't fetch every image is marked partial rather than failing outright — it still opens, with the missing images named.

Using a pack

When connectivity is gone, open the session on that device and the offline view takes over. Filter scenes and entities, read your prep, and check your stat blocks.

Packs are stored per device. A pack downloaded on your laptop isn't on your tablet — download it again there if that's the screen you'll run from.

Managing packs

The All packs view lists what's stored on the device, each with the date it was downloaded and its size. Remove a pack when the session is over; the storage is freed immediately.

💡Tip

Download the pack the day before, on the network you trust, not five minutes before the session on the network you don't. It's the whole point.

What a pack is not

An offline pack is a reference copy of a prepared session. It isn't a full offline Skryrún — worldbuilding, collaboration, the marketplace, and live player-facing surfaces all need a connection. Reveals, portal updates, and the Table Display are live features by nature.

Troubleshooting

"No offline pack found for this session on this device." The pack was downloaded on a different device, or removed. Download it again here.

The pack downloaded but some images are missing. It finished as partial — some media couldn't be fetched. The dialog names the files that failed; re-download on a better connection to fill them in.

My prep changed after I downloaded. A pack is a snapshot from the moment you downloaded it. Remove it and download again to pick up the changes.
