Portal appearance

Your player portal is the face of your world to everyone who isn't sitting at your table. Portal Appearance lets it look like the world it's showing — not like every other Skryrún portal.

Open it from world settings.

Genre presets

Pick a preset and the whole portal follows. Every tier gets all of them:

PresetLook
DefaultThe default gold-on-midnight look
Crimson DreadNear-black with a wound of red. For things best left buried
Drowned StarsA cold, sickly glow from somewhere beneath the dark
Gilded RealmWarm gold and soft edges for sweeping heroic tales
Iron & AshDesaturated steel for worlds where nobody wins clean
Violet SanctumDeep indigo and amethyst — high magic and stranger powers
WildgrowthMossy greens for druidic, untamed, living worlds
Neon SprawlBlack glass and electric magenta for chrome-and-rain futures

Skryrún suggests presets that match your world's genre and tone, so the shortlist is usually two or three rather than eight.

Custom colours ⚔️ Weaver+

Beyond presets, the guided colour editor derives a full, legible palette from a single accent colour you choose. You're picking the world's colour; the surfaces, text, and borders that go with it are worked out for you.

The editor checks contrast as you go and warns before you ship a portal nobody can read on a phone in daylight.

Structure and typography ⚔️ Weaver+

Finer controls, each a fixed set of choices rather than free-form styling:

💡Tip

Density and prose width do more for a lore-heavy portal than colour does. A narrow measure with airy density reads like a book; compact with a wide measure reads like a wiki. Pick the one your world is.

Preview before you ship

The panel previews your changes live. Appearance changes go out the moment you save them — there's no wait for a cache to turn over.

⚠️Warning

A portal theme is a fixed vocabulary of colours and choices — never raw CSS. There's no field here that takes HTML, a stylesheet, or a URL, which is deliberate: your portal can't be styled into something that leaks your players' data.

Troubleshooting

Custom colours are greyed out. Guided colour groups and the structure controls are ⚔️ Weaver+ features. Genre presets are available on every tier.

A preset looks wrong on one page. Presets set colours and surfaces, not layout. If a page reads badly, adjust density, prose width, or card style rather than the palette.

Contrast warnings won't clear. The accent is too close in luminance to the background. Pick a lighter or darker accent — the editor is checking what a real reader can distinguish, not a preference.
