Session companion link
A companion link is a shareable URL that requires no login. Players open it in any browser during a live session and see what you push to them in real time.
Two link types
| Type | Scope | Expiry | What players see |
|---|---|---|---|
| Session Guest | One session only | Auto-expires when you end the session | Only entities you explicitly reveal during the session |
| Public Portal | Permanent | Never (until you revoke it) | All entities marked Party or Public visibility |
Use Session Guest for live play when you want tight control over reveals. Use Public Portal for a persistent read-only window into your world — useful for between-session reference or recruiting new players.
Public Portal requires ⚔️ Weaver+ or above. Session Guest links are available on all tiers including Chronicler.

Record: open Players panel or Access Links section → click New Link → show the type picker with Session Guest and Public Portal options
- Open your world and go to the Players panel or the Access Links section.
- Click New Link.
- Choose Session Guest or Public Portal.
- Optionally set an expiry date or a maximum number of uses.
- Copy the URL and send it to your players.
What the link holder sees
Session Guest: Only entities you have explicitly revealed during the current session. Nothing appears by default — every reveal is a deliberate GM action.
Public Portal: All entities with Party or Public visibility in your world, as configured in your visibility settings.
In both cases, GM-only notes, hidden entities, and Secret blocks are never exposed.
Revealing entities during a session
While Session Mode is active, every entity card has a Reveal button. Tap it to push that entity to everyone currently viewing the companion link.
When you reveal, choose what to send:
| Reveal type | What the player sees |
|---|---|
| Full Card | Everything visible to the entity's visibility tier |
| Summary Only | Name, type, and a brief description |
| Portrait Only | Name and portrait image |
Portrait Only is useful for NPCs players have seen but know nothing about yet — it confirms the face without giving away names or details.
Reveals are live. Players with the link open see the update within seconds of you tapping the button. They do not need to refresh.

Revoking a link
- Session Guest links auto-expire the moment you end the session. No manual action needed.
- Public Portal links stay active until you revoke them. Go to Access Links, find the link, and toggle it inactive.
Revoking a link is immediate. Anyone currently viewing it sees a "Link no longer active" message. If you need to replace it, create a new link and redistribute the URL.
Troubleshooting
My players say the companion link shows nothing. Session Guest links only show entities you've explicitly revealed during the active session. Nothing appears by default. Use the Reveal button on each entity in Session Mode to push content to the link. If you're using a Public Portal link, check that your entities have Party or Public visibility set — GM Only entities never appear.
The link says "Link no longer active." Session Guest links auto-expire when you end the session. If you ended the session early or the link was for a previous session, generate a new one. Public Portal links stay active until you manually revoke them — check the Access Links panel to confirm the link hasn't been toggled inactive.
Players are seeing entities I didn't intend to reveal. If you're using a Public Portal link (not Session Guest), all Party-visible entities are accessible — not just ones you revealed during the session. Switch to Session Guest for tighter reveal control, or temporarily change sensitive entities to GM Only visibility before sharing the link.
I can't create a new link — the button is missing. Confirm you're on a Weaver or higher tier for Public Portal links. Session Guest links are available on all tiers. If the button is still missing, check that you're inside a Campaign context — links are per-campaign, not per-world.
No account required
Players do not need a Skryrún account to use companion links. For players who want deeper access — character portals, investigation boards, backstory editing — they should join the campaign with a free Chronicler account.
